Forza Horizon 4 Inclusivity Review

Gender/Race inclusivity

The player can choose between 7 male and 7 female character bases for their avatar, 3 of whom (overall) are white, the rest are POC

Mental/Physical inclusivity

As the player characters themselves do not say anything, it can be assumed they are mute. That being said, they can also dress how the player chooses, so cross dressing is possible and, overall, you can imprint yourself onto your character for your own personalization

Developer inclusivity endorsements

The developers make their stance very clear on inclusivity, as they have given out free cars for both Mexican Heritage month and Pride Month, the former containing a #BlackLivesMatter decal placed under the rear windshield of the exclusive design. The cross dressing, as mentioned above, was even an option since the game launched

Community inclusivity endorsements

The majority of the community is very accepting and inviting to other players, whether they be artists, tuners or stunt drivers. There are going to be a few bad apples however, so caution is advised when interacting with other drivers

Adaptability for disabled players or other

Features compatibility for steering wheel controllers, Xbox controllers and PC keyboard and mouse. / Cameras can be inverted and can have their sensitivity amped or dimmed. / Features subtitles and options for Deuteranopia, Protanopia and Tritanopia variations of colour-blindness. / Features a text to speech for users who either can’t read or find it challenging. / Allows for metric or imperial unit measurements. / Audio and visual language can be changed irrelevant of your system language.

Additional notes

  • Does not contain premium currency that is only accessible with real cash, all items in the game can be earned using in game methods
  • Buyer beware, as you cannot directly sell vehicles that you don’t want. You must either put them up for auction or simply delete them from your garage
  • Parental guidance is advised when browsing the Auction House or the Design Storefront, as there will be the occasional General Lee, Pedo Van or worse lurking amongst your favorite designs (note to THOSE parents, ANIME IS NOT INHERENTLY OFFENSIVE OR INAPPROPRIATE, though caution is still advised in this department, as some anime designs may feature characters in inappropriate clothing or positions)
  • Multiple race types are available, so if one doesn’t suit your fancy or you find difficult, you have a variety of options, as “nobody’s not welcome at Horizon”, to paraphrase the devs
  • As of the Lego update (yes, really), most songs across all stations have been censored in areas (save for one mention of God that they let slip in Push on the Block Party station)
